A New Year's message from
Mary Ann Faillace, Lay Director

January 1, 2015

Dear Cursillistas,

As Lay Director of the Metuchen Cursillo Movement, I present myself to you as your servant leader with all humility.

Along with the Secretariat members, I extend our warmest wishes for you and your family in this New Year of new beginnings. As we begin 2015, this is a good time to reflect on what we’ve done so far, and what our plans are to grow as the Metuchen Cursillo Movement.

Do you remember what it was like when you made your Cursillo weekend?  You felt the intimacy and love that the Lord has for you personally.  Remember how it was when you met your fellow brothers and sisters of Christ and became a member of the Cursillo family?

Maybe you learned about your faith a little deeper and the sacraments meant so much more to you.  Your weekend was a personal call from God to be His disciple and grow in love with Him and to love the community.

On your Fourth Day as a Cursillista, you became a leader for Christ.  And being that leader, you are a member of the School of Leaders.  Attending the School of Leaders regularly allows you to relive your weekend by learning more about the authenticity in the Cursillo methodology and doctrine established by Eduardo Bonnin seventy years ago.  The School of Leaders is comprised of:

  • Opening Prayer and Leaders’ Group Reunion

  • Doctrinal Presentation and Discussion (provides spiritual inspiration from a priest, deacon, or religious)

  • Technique Presentation and Discussion (teaches the Cursillo method)

  • Work by the Sections:
    Post Cursillo

  • Visits to the Blessed Sacrament

My vision for my term as Lay Director is to continue our evangelistic mission as a family and community.  We are on this journey together, and I look forward to sharing this journey with each and every one of you.

“As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12:12)

I personally invite you to come back.  Come to Ultreya and Small Group Reunion.  Serve on a Cursillo Weekend on Team (Prayer, Service, or as Rollista).  Come to School of Leaders which is held on the fourth Thursday of every month at St. Bernard’s Church, 500 US 22 East, Bridgewater NJ.  We need YOU to help the Metuchen Cursillo Movement to grow and thrive and bring others to friendship and relationship with Christ.

I can be reached at 908-334-4729 or

Also, please visit the newly updated web site, for information regarding the Metuchen Cursillo Movement.

In closing, we are here to serve our Lord in this movement as your Lay Director and Secretariat; we are all here to serve our Cursillo family.
