Cursillo,
(pronounced “kur-see-yo,”), is a Spanish word meaning “short
course,” ---a short course in Christianity.
A Cursillo Weekend is an “Encounter
with Christ.” It is
something which will strengthen your faith and bring you closer to Jesus.
Come
join us...
...for
a weekend.
1. WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
The Catholic Cursillo is open to baptized Catholics, 18 years of age or
older. If you wish to attend, apply through someone who has already made a
Cursillo. The person through whom you apply is your sponsor. She or he
will be responsible to assist you with any questions and in completing and
filing this application. They will also assist you before, during and
after you make your Cursillo. After you complete the application, return
it to your sponsor. He or she will review and sign the application.
2. WHAT IS ITS FORMAT?
The Cursillo is a blend of seriousness and lightheartedness, of spiritual
exercises and conferences. Spiritual exercises include daily Mass,
individual and group prayer, visits to the Blessed Sacrament and
Reconciliation. There are meditations and conferences by priests and
laypersons. During the conferences the candidates are urged to take notes.
After each conference the cursillistas are divided in groups to discuss
the talks and participate in a variety of activities.
3. POST-CURSILLO MEETING
There is a special Fourth Day GROUP REUNION for all new Cursillistas and Team
Members on the second Saturday (or third, if it falls near Easter) after the Cursillo Weekend, from 9:00 AM to
12:00 noon.
Please plan to attend this event.
